My first show, however, all Jack Straws pale in comparison to 1-11-79.

billydlions:

Thanks. No bias from it being your first show. As long as the JS crescendo jam is, it seems that Jerry is the only one who didn't want to keep going. (Understandable based on how frenetic his playing is.) Talk about some Phil bombs! This entire show is off the rails! Consider yourself lucky to have been there.

Gratefuldiver- I wish that was my first show! I was replying to the 4-6-87 version of Jack Straw. I have no biases toward any shows that I've been to except 3-29-90 which still stands today as the greatest show from any band I've seen.

BillyD,

Yes, now I see what you meant. It's pretty obvious. Funny because Wisconsin thought the same as me ('Clive' instead of 'life' was the '79 show). I'll have n to listen to 3.29.90 now. Set list looks awesome.

Be careful with those lucky dice.

must've been a fun first show. The set closers and 2nd set openers were well played.

And yea you're right, thats a very good jack straw. Neat little "we used to play for acid, now we play for Clive". Though I still think 4-6-87 trumps it. Your suggested version is a bit more chaotic, but who doesn't love that?
